So I’m going to ask a jamb question now, have you ever been to a Nigerian party? Be it a burial ceremony, birthday party, wedding or school convocation. If yes, you would be able to relate to the scenario I’m about to paint.
You know how you go to parties and the area boys start hailing you to drop something or those men with the talking drums. Exactly, just like that! You didn’t leave your house with the intention of dashing anybody your hard earned money, but they just have a way of whining you that just makes your head swell.
Have you ever thought about doing that to God? Unlike the scenario where those people hailing you don’t even know you, you know God. So why should praising Him be a problem for you, a child of God?
Matthew 18: 20 says, ‘For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them’. Just in case you can’t access God’s presence on your own yet, there’s the grace of corporate anointing. All you need to do is find a place where people are gathered in His name and praise like you’ve never done before.
If you know Him, God doesn’t show up without dropping something. The value of what is dropped is greatly determined by the quality of praise that we can give to God. That’s what He needs from us. We see the importance of praise when the Bible says in Luke 19: 40, ‘And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out’.
Don’t let it get to this, stones have no need for the attendant blessings of praising God. Praise till God drops something in your life.
