Bad Habits v. Godly Living

On the surface, the question seems to be whether or not you want an easy going life or a life with challenges. Although we live in this world, we are not of this world. This is the bane of a lot of Christians today. We forget that this world is just a transient stage on our journey to Heaven. We settle down and forget all about the journey, forgetting that we have not reached our destination.

The devil has made it absolutely easy. All you need to do is not do anything. Be passive. The devil knows if only you took action, if only you made a move, you would be free and he cannot afford that. He has thus taken advantage of all the cares of this world to waylay us and blind us to the truth..

Just imagine if Blind Bartimaeus was busy wallowing in self-pity and didn’t ask about who was passing by, he wold never have gotten his miracle. Sometimes, all that is needed is for us to look above our situations. Look above what the devil wants you to see. Look at Jesus, the One who is able to do much more than we can ever ask or think.

Believing the devil’s lies, we live our lives. Thinking it is too late for us to repent. We’re in too deep; we keep on sinking. Happily telling that lie, just because that is what we have done all our lives. Not seeing any need to correct our ways because we are already going to hell, so why bother?

Bother, because Jesus died just so that You could be saved.

After putting away all of the bad habits, how exactly can I go about this Godly living. In Hebrews 13: 13, the bible says, ‘and now abideth faith, hope and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love’. Love conquers. Once you fill your heart with love, there will be no space for hatred or vengeance or pride or any of those things that do not put us in good standing with God. Once you love your neighbour as yourself, you would not want to commit adultery with his wife or gossip about them.

Additionally, Hebrews 12: 14 says, ‘follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. After loving, we need to make sure we live peaceably with our brethren. Holiness is a lifestyle, after incorporating love and peace, the outcome is holiness.

To be successful at Godly living, you need to be successful in Loving.
