As a Christian, you should be very much aware of the on-going conflicts around us; physical, mental and spiritual. Not even just as a Christian, but as a young Christian in particular. I don’t know about you, but I struggle. I struggle a lot. Sometimes I feel like all the sisters around me can’t possibly be going through all the things I got through. They are probably too ‘holy and spirit filled’ to be thinking about boys or just about anything that was ‘unholy.’ In my mind I know it’s a lie, but a lot if the time, the devil just wants us to feel like we are the worst sinners.
For thinking about that boy in a compromising situation or how that girl looks naked; yes it’s bad. But what do you do when those thoughts come in? Do you just sit there and let the thoughts overtake you? Or do you get up and pray those thoughts back to the pit of hell. Apostle Paul already said it in Romans 7:15, ‘What I don’t understand about myself is that I decide one way, but then I act another, doing things I absolutely despise.’
You can only fight this desires and thoughts when you are aware that as a young Christian man or woman, such thoughts shouldn’t be entertained. However, if we have a lackadaisical attitude towards our salvation, then we will fall for just about everything. Because of our tendency to function in the physical, the word of God in Colossians 3:5 counsels us to subdue the flesh and its worldly desire through discipline. If we fail to discipline ourselves, then it becomes very easy for pride, sexual immorality, inordinate ambition, covetousness and other forms of indiscipline to creep into our lives and give opportunity to the devil, to butcher us.
