Ezekiel 36: 26 – 27, ‘A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you…’

Gideon in the Bible made sure it was God that was talking to Him by putting out a fleece. Kinda like cotton wool. But a very big one. The first day God was supposed to let dew fall on every other area apart from where the fleece was. It happened. The next day, he wanted God to direct the dew only towards the fleece. It happened.

Now, it will do us good to remember that this happened in the Old Testament. During a time when men were under the law. Only a very limited class of people were anointed by the Spirit of God. Other normal people had to go through them. So when Gideon heard from God he must have been perplexed and he just really wanted to make sure.

Unlike Gideon in the Old Testament, we really do not have to test God this way because we have what we discussed in the last post. The inward witness. Quite honestly, nothing can take the place of having the inward witness. No matter how long it takes to get it. The Bible says the vision is for an appointed time, though it tarries, wait for it; it shall surely come. Though God’s word or leading or direction concerning a particular thing tarries, wait for it because it shall surely come.

It’s quite easy to just label very random things on the outside as God’s leading. So if we wake up late, it’s not God’s plan for us to get the job! If you had a 5.0 CGPA, it must be God’s plan for you to become a farmer after all! Basing our lives on things on the outside, is a very shaky foundation.

There’s something on the inside of you, use it.
