Many a times, we tend to live our lives without acknowledging the influence of a greater power at work in our lives. They say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. This led me to think;
If God resigned, where will I be? And,
If God resigned, will I even notice? And,
If God resigned, will that mean I could commit all my sins freely? And,
If God resigned, will the devil simply have his way with me? And,
If God resigned, will I still get that first class degree? And,
If God resigned, will my aunt still get that miracle child? And,
I thought about these and more, forgetting Gods’ promises to me;
That He would never leave me nor forsake me, and
That He would do whatever I had asked of Him, and
That He is my shield and my exceeding great reward, and
That He would raise a standard when the enemy comes as a flood, and
That I shall be blessed amongst all people, and
That I and all the children He had given me were for signs and wonders, and
That I should not fear what man can do unto me.
Remembering that God could never resign, all the other thoughts quickly fade away but do not stay away….and, this is the greatest tool of the devil. He makes us forget who we are in Christ by forgetting all these promises. We ourselves contribute to this deceit by not adhering to Gods’ word in Joshua 1: 8, ‘this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth’.
This is thus a clarion call for us all to wake up and get reading. The Bible was not written to be used as a bedtime story; it is our strongest weapon against the wiles of the devil.
