Not Business As Usual

Romans 8: 15 – For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba, Father.

It really is that simple. No complications, just plain truth. Now, this is what Grace does; pure and simple. There really is no rationalising it. Let’s personalise it, for I have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but the spirit of adoption.

Since you were on your own when you received the spirit of bondage, I wonder why we feel we need to work to receive the spirit of adoption. Two men came into this world at different times and gave us two different things (1 Corinthians 15: 45). The first Adam, sinned and this led to death. The second Adam, brought righteousness and this led to life. The gift of the first man is automatic once we are given birth to, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The gift of the second is dependent upon receiving Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour.

Assuming we have all given our lives to Christ, do we really understand the impact, the reason, the rationale behind Jesus’s death on the cross? Or do we just see it a licence to sin, because He came that we may have life and have it more abundantly (John 10: 10).

Let’s not forget that the Bible says, shall we continue in sin and say grace may abound? God forbid (Romans 6: 1 – 2). I haven’t really gone into the depths of the work of grace. But I just want us to know this, God is looking for men and women who understand His sacrifice on the cross to serve Him.

Sometimes I read the book of the Prophets in the Old Testament and I just wonder, why were these people so stubborn. Couldn’t they comprehend what the Prophets were saying? Prophet after prophet after prophet, yet they continued to sin! Yet this is exactly what’s going on in this generation forgetting that God said in His Word that those who do not retain Him in their knowledge will be given over to a reprobate mind (Romans 1: 28). This is not the time to blow hot and cold for God (Revelations 3:16). God is not looking for jokesters. It really isn’t business as usual anymore. A revival is coming, God is cleaning up house.
