2 Chronicles 32: 4 – ‘So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?’
Ever wondered why people who have actually read all of the Bible bother to read it again? Let me tell you why, and though it may sound cliché, it is actually true; there is always something new to learn from the Bible. I’m not sure why this is so, but my little theory is that based on the experiences we have from the last time we read a particular scripture to the next time we do read it, we have new knowledge that gives us new insight. Plus if we are actually doing what we’re supposed to be doing in our sanctification walk, the Holy Spirit gives advanced revelations.
So anyway, back to the verse of scripture above, the part that really strikes me is, ‘why should the kings of Assyria come and find much water?’ And then, in my head; I read it like, ‘why should the devil come and find much accusations?’ See, that’s what a lot of us do, we give the devil all he needs to freely accuse us before God’s judgement seat.
We should take a cue from Hezekiah today, stop all the fountains of sin in your life. And its not really about the big things, its mostly about the seemingly small things e.g. taking yor parents for granted (guilty as charged here), not rendering help when you and I both know you comfortably can (also guilty of this).
Whatever it is, you can’t stop the fountains on your own. The verse says that much people gathered together. Speak to somebody, pray to God, He is willing and able to answer when we call on Him.
P.S: God is too good! My God. How can someone just love me this much????? Random moment, has absolutely nothing to do with the post.
