The Lost Ones.

‘But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost – 2 Corinthians 4: 3

The Bible in Luke 19: 10 says, ‘For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost’. Who exactly are these lost ones the Bible speaks about? In 2 Corinthians 4: 4, the Bible qualifies these lost ones. Those whose minds have been blinded by the god of this world (the devil). Let’s take a look at the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15: 11 – 32).

This is a typical story of someone whose mind and eyes have been blinded. Yes he was seeing perfectly well; but he was not discerning spiritually. He thought he needed to live independently from his father. Taking all what his little hands could carry. Billionaire at 20; but for how long? He was not even bothered about how his request will make his father feel. All he could think about was his own greed. There it is: Greed! He could have waited for things to run its course naturally but he wanted it now.

When the devil had finished dealing with him, he came to his senses. Realizing how people who were of lesser calibre than him were enjoying his father’s company and wealth. Thieves, terrorists, adulterers etc. all because they surrendered to Him. It was like a hard reboot and it takes only the grace of God to come to this point. The devil will rather remind you of your non- existent pride. A whole me, go back with nothing after all this time. Never! I’d rather die in this life of sin.

But that really is not what God is about. He won’t say I told you so. He won’t laugh at you. Instead, he’ll pick you up, dust you off and restore the years that the cankerworm had eaten. In Joel 2: 24 after the children of Israel repented, God began to fight for them. No just fight, but they recovered all that they had lost.

As a Christian that is upright before God, it is also our duty to tell these lost ones the good news of salvation.  The Bible says whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10: 14 goes on to say, ‘How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?’

The Bible in James 5: 20 says, ‘Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sin’. Share the good news today.
