As Christians, it’s very important for us to realise that God has a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3). There is also a reason behind all of God’s actions. It may seem odd when things are obviously going left in your life but God’s Word is telling you that the plans God has for you are for good and not for evil (Jeremiah 29:11). All the people you started your career with have succeeded beyond imagination but still no one knows your name. Everyone who got married after you already have kids. All your younger ones have gotten married and nothing seems to be happening in your life
It’s very easy for us to think that we have been forgotten. It’s very easy for us to begin to believe the lies of the devil. It’s very easy to begin to lose our identity in Christ. It’s very easy for us to begin to look for solutions elsewhere since God is obviously asleep concerning your case (Psalm 121:4).
Ironically, it’s when we begin to feel this way that we ought to seek out Jesus. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:7, ‘Cast all your anxiety on Him, for He cares for you’. Remember Job (Job 1:8 – 12)? God loved Job so much, to the point of bragging about him. But to Job, he must have committed some dreadful thing that caused God to simply turn on him. Since everything in the Bible is profitable to direct (2 Timothy 3:16), we should take some direction from the story of Job. If God had not mentioned Job’s name that day when the devil came over, we wouldn’t have an example. But in God’s perfect plan, he suggested the idea to the devil and the devil took the bait.
I don’t know, but somewhere in my spirit, I like to think that the devil is God’s pawn and no matter how sly the devil gets, God is always 1000 steps ahead. The devil always follows Gods’ lead. So when you begin to feel that the devil has got you in a fix, just trust in your son-ship. Just imagine if you’ve been kidnapped, wouldn’t your earthly father do everything in his power to get you back? How much more Jesus? When our lives have been kidnapped by the devil, be rest assured that because you’re God’s son/daughter everything will be okay. We need to begin to realise all the benefits that accrued to us the day we genuinely gave our lives over to the Father (Romans 8:15). Not only a realisation but walking in the realisation. Isaiah 2: 5 says, ‘Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord’.
